ECO-DESIGN APPROACH
A website designed to keep things simple
Digital technology also has an environmental impact. When redesigning this website, we therefore chose a more restrained approach: limiting the resources loaded, avoiding unnecessary features and reducing data collection as much as possible.
The aim is not to claim that the website has “no impact”, but to make simple and measured choices at every stage of its design.
What have we done in practice?
A deliberately lightweight website
- Built with WordPress and Gutenberg, mainly using native blocks
- Number of plugins limited to what is strictly necessary
- No animations, carousels or autoplay videos
- Images optimised and adapted to their actual display size
- SVG format preferred for icons
- Fonts hosted locally and limited to the weights actually used
Minimal data collection
- No audience measurement tool
- No advertising pixels or profiling tools
- No social media feeds or third-party services loaded automatically
- Contact form limited to the information needed to reply to a request
- No external reCAPTCHA
- No additional storage of contact form messages
Accessibility as part of the approach
Digital sobriety also means providing a simple and accessible experience: structured content, clear navigation, sufficient contrast, readable text, keyboard accessibility and text alternatives where needed.
Current EcoIndex results
The pages tested so far are currently rated A or B on EcoIndex.
These results reflect measurements carried out during the design phase and may change over time depending on content, updates and future features.
